Last night we played against the reigning Division 1 champions, Dresden SC. They are currently sitting third in the first league, and we are on top of the second league. I’ll put it out there straight away that they were missing two players for National Team duties, but they are still a pretty strong team!
Our goal was to get above 20 in all the sets. Which we did. We even took a set. I think it was a really great game for us, to see where we are at in relation to the first league, and to play some good quality Volleyball. We lost the first set after having 2 set points. A little frustrating but we were playing pretty well. Our youngest outside, Mandy, who is 17, had an absolute blinder and killed everyone and everything, repeatedly. It was awesome to watch and great to know exactly what she can do. Very damaging.
The second set was much like the first, and after a couple of set points we finally closed it out. We were pretty pumped to get a set. The rest of the game was still fairly good, we got in high 20′s in both sets I think, but we had hit a bit of a wall. I think a few of us might have been feeling the 5 setter from Saturday.
Overall it was an great game for us, shown on TV, let people know what we can do and hopefully help us keep our level up for the rest of this season. We play Bad Soden at home on Saturday, another game we should win, but will be hard after a tough week of games and training.
